Jesus said in John 10:10 that "I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." Not just life, but more than that. My question to you is, "Are you living an abundant life?"
You may ask what that means. Does it only mean you have plenty of money, goods, and honor? When Jesus taught us to pray, He said to pray for your daily bread - what you need for today. So "the abundant life" doesn't mean great wealth. So what is it?
As a Christian, we should be living according to the Holy Spirit. We know that the apostle Paul named the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. If you had all of those in your life, I'm sure you would say your life was "abundant." The real question now is, "How can we achieve that?"
In Philippians 4:8, Paul gives us the answer. It's about getting our thoughts right. It's about us developing the right attitude. He also told us how to do it. He said, "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things."
To "dwell on these things" means to think on them - to plan your life around them. Fill your mind with good. Make plans for your future based on the right things. Chose your friends carefully. Add positive people and remove the negative. Be careful with what you allow to influence your life. Guard your mind by reading the right books and articles. Don't pollute your mind with negative music or movies. Choose your actions carefully, and live out your Christian life. Do these things, and you will have an excellent life.
