Is there uncertainty in your life? Are you afraid of what might happen next? Maybe you're going through a transition at work or there's trouble in your family. If you're afraid, take heart. You're not alone.
When Moses died, God came to Joshua and told him that he was now going to lead the people into the Promised Land (Joshua 1). God said, "Get up, and lead these people across the river and into their new home; and by the way, you're going to have to fight the people that live there." Joshua must have been very nervous because God told him 3 times, "Be strong and courageous!"
The thing I find interesting about this story is that God had to tell Joshua to be courageous after He had already promised that He would not "fail or forsake" him. Maybe, with all this uncertainty in your life, this is what's happening with you. You've taken your eyes off the big picture (God) and are focused on the how's and why's.
So what should you do? First, remember what God told Joshua. After God gave the instructions on how to proceed, He told him how to have success. What God told him is exactly what we need to hear, too. God said, "be careful to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; ... so that you may have success wherever you go." (Joshua 1:7)
Concerning the Law, God tells Joshua to: speak it, meditate on it, and do it. And if he did it, he would be prosperous and successful. We have more than the law. We have the Bible. We need to read it, talk about it, and meditate on it, but most importantly, we need to DO what it says. Jesus said, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." (John 15:7) That sounds like success to me!
