3 Things Easter Did For You

I love seeing people change.  Watching someone genuinely embrace Jesus Christ and become a new person continues to stoke my fire. Maybe that is why I love being a pastor. I have seen people go from fearful to confident, from trapped in a cycle of destructive behaviors to become free, and going from not understanding why things go wrong continually to being grateful for God’s blessing. It was the Cross of Easter that did it for them.

Here are three things that the Cross bought for you.

1. Freedom from Fear

…that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. [Heb 2: 14-15 NASB]

When people make Jesus the Lord of their lives, Someone stronger, smarter, and more abundant in resources is in charge of their lives.

2. A Life Without Guilt

He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. [2Co 5:21 NASB]

Jesus beat sin and its consequences on the Cross. The compulsions that drive people are broken. If they do sin, they confess and it is forgiven. Freedom has come!

3. Release From a Cursed Life

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us - for it is written, "CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO HANGS ON A TREE" - in order that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we would receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. [Gal 3:1-14 NASB]

I have seen families restored. Men go back to their wives, even when their history is to have affairs, just like their fathers. Good marriages, blessed children, and available resources come when the curse is gone.

As a pastor, I count it an honor to participate in this great work that Jesus accomplished on the cross.

Happy Easter!
