The leper came to Jesus, hoping He could do something for him. He said, "If You are willing, You can make me clean.” Isn’t that so much like us?
We know God could do something, but will He?, is the big question.
"…moved with compassion, Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed." Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed. Mark 1:40-42 NASB
The four gospels are full of stories where men and women faced horrible situations in their lives, but they had heard that there was a prophet named Jesus who was performing miracles. And in the midst of their pain, grief, and confusion, they thought maybe this Jesus could do something for them. They thought, “My life is awful, BUT GOD could help me!” Each came to Jesus and instead of an unavoidable calamity, a miracle happened for them.
Too often, we get busy or distracted, and instead of going to God in prayer, we just endure the bad situation. And it lingers…and lingers….and lingers! Finally we get sick of the thing, and we cry out to the only One who can really help us. - And He answers.
Because God is the One who loves us, and He stands waiting to help.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, [Eph. 2:1-4 NASB]
God wants to help you. He stands ready to change the course of your misery. Life has crises, BUT GOD is here! Do whatever it takes to go to Him. He will not disappoint you.
