Transforming our Thoughts

Romans 12:2 (NASB) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

This is really amazing. We can be transformed—metamorphose like a caterpillar to a butterfly, or Clark Kent to Superman.  This whole thing just reeks of hope. How many of us have ever said, “I will never be able to change. It’s impossible!”  I know some people have issues so deep that they think they can’t change. .

Sometimes what we can’t change is our thoughts and attitudes. They seem to be just ingrained in us. Like the couple who drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument, and neither of them wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, “Relatives of yours?”  “Yep,” the wife replied, “in-laws.”

The way we change is by taking God’s thoughts instead of ours. Especially the thoughts we have had for years. And as we do this we are transformed. In fact God promises that we will begin to be successful and prosperous.

Psalm 1:2-3 (NIV) 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. 3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Imagine your life, family, soul, going from disaster to success, because you changed your thoughts for His.
