Stumbling Over Others' Sins

Have you stumbled over someone’ s weakness or sin?  Did you start to withdraw because of other's imperfections? Maybe some Christian you trusted gossiped about you behind your back. Maybe some person in ministry was immoral. Perhaps someone lied about you, lied to you, or betrayed you.  You expected more than they gave, and they disappointed you.

Every time you do not forgive or get over someone’s weakness your heart not only hardens to them but also to God. Unforgiveness paves the way for the enemy. Every time you get negative toward someone, even if they deserve it, it will crystallize into an attitude, and you heart has just become colder towards God. You may think you are still open to God, but

1 John 4:20 If someone says, "I love God," and hates (DESPISES) his brother, he is a liar; for the one who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen.

We make excuses to justify withdrawing from others, but really it is a smoke screen that coves the real issue: our love has grown cold. I can't tell you how many times I've hear, "As soon as I find a church that believes everything I do, I will be committed.” Remember that Jesus love you and forgave you again and again without ever growing cold towards you. We are called to do the same.
